Like their counterparts in person, most online programs require students to pay additional fees. The types and amounts of fees vary greatly.
Online students avoid many of the fees that residential students pay, such as meal plans and parking, or on-campus housing. Technology fees are often added to the cost of attending college.
Toney explains that there are other costs involved with in-person programs such as student fees, recreation fees, etc. It’s important to get a list of all the costs for the program, not just the tuition.
Computer equipment is an additional cost that students must also invest in.
